Preparing for your in home session
Welcoming your newborn into your home is a truly magical time that deserves to be cherished and captured beautifully. As a photographer and experienced midwife, I understand the importance of creating a warm, relaxed atmosphere that reflects the magic of motherhood.
My background as a midwife uniquely positions me to understand and capture the intimate moments of early parenthood like no other photographer. This blend of professional photography skills and personal experience allows me to step into a role that goes beyond capturing images—it’s about preserving the essence of this special time in your lives.
Embracing your home
I hear all the time “my house isn’t aesthetic” and I felt the same until I had photos with Chloe Alexis Photography. I can almost guarantee you, looking back on your own child hood memories as a kid you were not worried about what colour your kitchen was! All I need is a window, a nice duvet cover and some free little areas and we are good!
Your home doesn’t need to be perfect—it’s already the perfect backdrop for capturing authentic moments. I typically utilise key areas such as the nursery, main lounge, kitchen, and even your front door step to highlight the intimate essence of your growing family. Pets are always welcome!
Creating a Relaxing Environment
To ensure a comfortable and enjoyable session, here are some tips to prepare:
Temperature: Keep the areas we'll use comfortably warm to keep your baby cozy.
Feeding: A nice bottle feed or breastfeeding just before the session helps keep your baby content and relaxed.
Essentials: Have items like dummies (pacifiers), nappies (diapers), wipes, and bibs nearby for any unexpected needs. Have any heirloom items ready you would like to include for extra sentiment. Cotton buds and a little bit of saline water to wipe any crusty skin or gunk from babies eyes and face!
Outfits: Dress comfortably in soft knits and earthy tones. Avoid matching outfits and stark whites to keep the focus on your family’s natural connection.
Make-up: This one is entirely up to you! I do believe natural tones work really well for newborn photos to keep them soft- timeless- natural.
Our sessions typically start around 10:30 AM, respecting your baby’s natural rhythm and capturing the best natural light for beautiful photographs.
Preparing for your in-home newborn session is about celebrating the beauty of your growing family in a space that is meaningful to you. Your home, filled with love and warmth, provides the perfect canvas for capturing these fleeting moments that you’ll treasure forever.
